2 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
21/2 t baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda
1 stick butter or margarine
3/4 c. raisins
2 eggs
1/4 to 1/3 cups milk
Additional sugar for glaze

Preheat oven to 400* F. In large bowl mix first four ingredients. Cut in butter, until coarse crumbs. Add raisins. In small bowl, mix 1 egg and 1 egg yolk (reserve remaining white) add milk, add this to flour mixture till it holds together. Toss on floured surface and knead 5 or 6 times. Cut dough in half. Pat into 2 circles 1/2-inch thick. Cut into 8 triangles. Place on greased baking sheet. With a fork, beat remaining egg whites till foamy. Pat on each scone spring with sugar. Bake 14-18 minutes till golden brown.
