These low-calorie foods give new life to old favorites. When choosing grains, remember to consider vitamins and minerals, too. Some foods get most of their calories from sugar and fat but give you few, if any, vitamins and minerals.
Instead of eating:
Pasta with white sauce (Alfredo)
Pasta with cheese sauce
Try these lower-calorie alternatives:
Rice or noodles (spaghetti, macaroni, etc.)
Pasta with red sauce (marinara)
Pasta with vegetables (primavera)
Bran flakes, crispy rice, etc.
Cooked grits or oatmeal
