Glazed Cinnamon Bars

1 cup butter or margarine (2 sticks)
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg, separated
Dash salt
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup unsifted powdered sugar
1/2 to 1 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly grease a 15- x 10-inch pan.

In medium mixing bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, egg yolk and salt, combining well. Sift together flour, baking powder and cinnamon. Add to creamed mixture; mix just until combined. Spread batter into pan.

Beat egg white until foamy. Stir in powdered sugar. Brush mixture over batter. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake 20 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. While hot, cut into 48 bars. Remove from pan, and cool on rack.

Makes 48 bars.

Slice these while they are hot, or they will break.
