Golden Corral (™) Country Fried Steak

Today I have a secret recipe for a classic dish served at Golden Corral. Country fried steak is a breaded cubed beef steak that is breaded and the fried to a golden-brown. Serve with a side of mashed potatoes and your favorite vegetable.

  • 1 lb. cubed beef steak
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • ½ vegetable oil
  1. Cut meat into steak size pieces and tenderize it¬ use a mallet or any heavy kitchen tool to pound it.

  2. Take a shallow dish and stir in all the spices and the flour.

  3. Pour buttermilk into a separate dish.

  4. Dip each steak into buttermilk and then dunk into the flour mixture.

  5. In a large skillet, heat the oil and cook each steak for 5 minutes on each side.

Do you dunk the steak back into the flour mixture after the buttermilk or does it go wet into the oil??? Thanks !!!

After thinking about it :thinking:, I’ve decided to reverse the order in step 4, otherwise there would be too much flour. Thanks for pointing that out. :+1: Sorry about the multiple edits.
