Gooey Butter Cake

Ingredients & Directions:
Cake:
1 18 1/4-ounce package yellow cake mix
1 egg
8 tablespoons butter, melted

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine the cake mix, egg, and butter and mix well with an electric mixer. Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 by 9-inch baking pan. Prepare Filling

Filling:
1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 tablespoons butter, melted
1 16-ounce box powdered sugar

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs, vanilla, and butter and beat together. Next, add the powdered sugar and mix well. Spread over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure not to over bake as the center should be a little gooey.

Yield: 6 to 8 servings
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes

I love this recipe, I bake it in two round pie pans-that way everyone gets the gooey middle and the chewy edge.

I don’t know. It must be me. I’ve made several flavors of the Gooey Butter Cakes (from Paula Deen) and didn’t care for any of them. I guess you either like 'em or hate 'em.

I have made Paula Deens Gooey cake and it is soooo good.

I make this same cake all the time from The Cake Mix Doctor & take to work. It doesn’t take long for it to disappear.

We love the gooey cakes of Paula’s. I make it in a 9x13 pan.
