Gooseberry Pie


I used to eat at a restaurant in Whiting, In. called Phil Shmidt’s. They were famous for their seafood. They had the BEST in the Chicagoland area. The frog legs were lightly breaded & sauteed in garlic butter. They had the best Gooseberry Pie too. They warmed it up a bit, and it had a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it. I have never seen this pie on any other rest’r menu. Baker’s Square doesn’t even have it. Does anyone have a tried & true recipe for this pie?

Thanks for the pie recipe…but WOW you gave the frog legs too! I get so passionate about the foods that I love, and the memories of those places that have since went out of business, I didn’t realize it sounded like I was asking for the recipe. Thanks again.
