Hamburger Chowder

2 lbs. Ground beef, brown and drain
1 ½ C. chopped onion
1 C. diced carrots
1 C. diced celery
2 C. diced potatoes
½ C. dry barley
2 – 14 ½ oz. cans diced tomatoes
4 beef bouillon cubes
4 ½ C. water
salt & pepper to taste

Combine ingredients in a large stockpot. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer for 3 hours covered. Stir occasionally.

*Notes: Chowder can be simmered in a crock pot. Serve with crackers or bread. Amounts of ingredients can be increased to extend the dish for an extra serving.
