hello everyone!
i humbly come to ask advice and pick your brains. I suffer from a chronic pain condition, interstitial cystitis. certain foods/ingredients make us flare in pain miserably, and i’m trying to find substitutions for those ingredients. we cannot have anything with potassium, citric acid, artificial colors or flavors, chocolate, coffee, soda, etc. tomato products are a huge no no, as is vinegar, soy sauce worcestershire sauce, and chili powder. the last 4 are my sticking points. i can sub low acid tomatoes and make my own sauces and such, and carob subs for choc. there is low acid coffee.

what i’m wondering is what can i replace vinegar, soy sauce, worc sauce, and chili powder with? can i make my own subs at home? lemon juice can be substituted in small quantities in some recipes, but citrus fruits are generally off limits with the ic diet, and my family doesn’t want everything to taste like lemon. :confused:

i would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me.
