I had people over for 4th of July and ended up with 3 unopened bottles of ketchup. There are only 2 people in my household. I dislike ketchup for just dipping or even a dog or burger. Does anyone know what to add to it to make cocktail sauce and barbecue sauce or even chilli sauce. I have dried minced onion and prob any other bottled spice you can think of, it only has to be enough of each sauce for 2-4 people. Thank you
You can try this:
Barbecue Sauce:
Mix together in a medium size pot:
2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon salt
1 Tablespoon chili flakes or more to taste
1 ½ teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
1 cup yellow prepared mustard
1 ¼ cups ketchup
½ cup water
12 ounces white vinegar
Cook over medium heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Mix together in a small bowel:
¼ cup sugar
¼ cup corn starch
¼ cup cold water
Stir into sauce and simmer for another 30 minutes.
