Homemade Spice Blends
CURRY POWDER
2 tablespoons ground coriander
1 tablespoon + 2 teaspoons turmeric
1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cumin
3/4 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon cloves
Mix all together until well mixed. Store in an airtight
container. Makes approx. 1/3 cup.
PUMPKIN PIE SPICE
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
Mix together well.
SEASONED SALT
1/2 cup salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon oregano powder
1 teaspoon sweet marjoram powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Mix all together until well mixed. Store in a shaker. Yield: 2/3 cup
PICKLING SPICE
2 tablespoons mustard seed
1 tablespoon whole allspice
2 teaspoons coriander seeds
2 whole cloves
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
1 bay leaf, crumbled
1 cinnamon stick (2 inches)
Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight jar or
container. Use in favorite pickle recipes. Yield: 1/3 Cup
