HOT HOLIDAY PUNCH

Makes about 8 cups

About 2 1/2 cups water, divided
1/4 c. Holiday Spice Mix (recipe follows)
4 c. apple cider
2 c. cranberry juice cocktail
1/4 c. seedless raisins
2 T. light brown sugar
Orange slices, optional
Cinnamon sticks, optional

In small saucepan, combine 2 c. water and 1/4 c. Holiday Spice Mix. Over high heat, bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, 20 minutes. Strain out spices. Add enough additional water to measure 2 c. liquid.

In medium-sized saucepan, combine spiced liquid, apple cider, cranberry juice, raisins and brown sugar. Over high heat, bring to a boil. Serve hot with orange slices and cinnamon sticks.

HOLIDAY SPICE MIX

Makes about 1/2 cup

4 cinnamon sticks, broken up
1 bay leaf, quartered
3 T. whole cloves
2 T. dried lemon peel
2 T. dried orange peel

In small bowl, combine all ingredients. Place in tightly covered jar until ready to use.

Use in preparing spiced fruit and wine drinks.
