Keluman Christmas Tree Farm B & B Sweet and Sour Meatballs
A sweet and sour appetizer for your next party or gathering. This recipe can easily be kept warm in a crockpot. Meatballs can be made ahead and frozen. Re-heat in the sauce in a crockpot or an oven.

1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
2 Tbsp milk
2/3 cup Heinz chili sauce
2/3 cup Currant jelly
1 lb Ground Chuck
1 cup soft bread crumbs
1 egg slightly beaten
2 Tbsp. minced fresh onion
1 clove of garlic
1tsp. salt
Dash black pepper

Combine ground chuck,bread crumbs, egg,minced onion,garlic clove,salt,pepper,vegetable oil milk and form into bite size balls using a teaspoon. Brown the meatballs lightly in oil. Cover and simmer approx. 10 minutes. Drain off the excess fat. Combine Chili sauce and currant jelly and pour over the meatballs. Heat, stir occasionally until jelly is melted . Simmer approximately 10-12 minutes until sauce has thickened, baste occasionally.
Serve with toothpicks.

These are really good - you may want to make more than one batch!

Makes about 40 appetizers and 2/3 cup of sauce.

I have made these using grape jelly in place of currant jelly. Always a big hit.

did you ever try 2 C. catalina dressing and 1 C. orange marmalade, 3 T. worcestershire and a few red pepper flakes?
