Lois's Egg Bread & Her Old Fashioned Dressing

1 cup Dixie Lilly self-rising corn meal
1/2 cup self-rising flour
2 eggs
1 cup 2% milk
1/2 cup light margarine, melted
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon Splenda

Blend meal and flour. Slightly beat the eggs and add milk. Add the mixture to dry ingredients. Add melted margarine, celery, onion, sugar and Tabasco. Blend well with a wire whisk or fork. Bake in well greased 9" cast iron skillet at 400 degrees for 30 minutes


Recipe for egg bread
12 slices day-old white bread
1 cup light half and half
4 eggs
2 cups strong chicken broth
1 teaspoon salt
Seasoned pepper
1 Tablespoon instant chicken seasoning

Tear white bread in small pieces and soak in half and half and add crumbled egg bread. Beat eggs slightly and add along with all other ingredients. Blend well, bake in well greased (PAM) pan at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes.

I have used this recipe with a Turkey for Thanksgiving it is very good and different.
