London Broil (Homemade)

London Broil

3/4 lb ground beef
3/4 lb ground veal
1/2 tsp thyme
2 cloves garlic, smashed and chopped
2 tbsp chopped parsley
1 egg
1 egg white, lightly beaten
4 strip sirloin steak, two inches wide
salt and pepper

In mixing bowl, combine ground beef and veal. Season with salt and pepper. Add spices and egg. Mix with electric beaters until meat forms a ball. Shape into 4 small hamburgers, the size of a filet mignon.

Brush the sides of meat with lightly beaten egg white. Wrap a strip of sirloin around each hamburger and secure with toothpick. Saute or grill on barbecue for 8 or 9 minutes depending on size.

Grilled Marinated London Broil

2 lb. London broil
4 large cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. sugar
4 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
3 tbsp. Dijon Mustard
1-1/2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. dried oregano, crumbled
1 tsp. dried basil, crumbled
1 tsp. dried thyme, crumbled
1/2 tsp. dried hot red pepper flakes
2/3 cup olive oil
4 tbsp. fresh lemon juice

In a large bowl, combine minced garlic, sugar, balsamic vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce. Add dried oregano, dried basil, dried thyme, red pepper flakes, olive oil and lemon juice and mixing well.

Place steak into a large zip lock bag and pour marinade over top. Seal bag; make sure to press the excess air out of bag. Place bag in fridge to marinade overnight, turning once or twice.

Heat and oil grill, place steak on to hot grill for 9 to 10 minutes per side, remember to only turn the steak once. Transfer meat to cutting board, let stand for 10 minutes before cutting. Serve and enjoy!
