BTW - the blades are ground and used as a spice (you can substitute) - it is not easy to find in the stores - ground is more popular - and nutmeg can be substituted (since the mace is the outer skin of the nutmeg)

mace is not as strong as nutmeg

if using blades - REMOVE AS YOU DO BAY LEAVES BEFORE SERVING

The measurement of a blade of mace is similar to using a stick of cinnamon. They are not all the same size, so you get guesstimate. It’s strange, but here in Thailand blades are the only way I can find mace.
