MAKE-AHEAD CHEESY ONION BAKE

4 tp 6 large white onions, sliced
8 slices buttered toast, cubed
1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
2 eggs, beaten
2 c. milk
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
1 T. burtter or margarine
Paprika to taste

Cook onions in small amount of boiling salted water in saucepan until tender; drain. Alternate layers of toast, onions and cheese in baking dish. Combine eggs, milk, salt and pepper; beat well and pour over layers. Dot with butter; sprinkle with paprika. Chill in refrigerator for several hours if desired. MAKE AHEAD TO THIS POINT.

Bake in preheated 350* F. oven for 40 minutes or until set.
