1/2 c. shortening
1 c. maple sugar, sifted
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 t. lemon extract
1 T. milk
2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
1 t. baking powder
1 c. finely chopped walnuts
1/2 c. maple sugar

Cream shortening and 1 c. maple sugar in bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs, extract and milk; mix well.

Sift flour and baking powder together; add to creamed mixture; mix well.

Chill for 30 minutes.

Roll 1/4-inch thick on lightly floured surface. Sprinkle with walnuts and 1/2 c. maple sugar. Press into dough lightly. Cut into diamond shapes.

Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated 350* F. oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Store in freezer.
