No meat on Wednesdays and Fridays during Lent in my house. It’s been like that for generations. So today:
Saute chopped onion, finely choppped celery and “chipped” carrot in a little butter in pot (do not onion brown); add flour, cook about 1 minute; add canned whole kernel corn UNDRAINED and canned cream-style corn and water; salt, pepper, parsley; simmer; add milk, heat through (do not boil milk) and serve.
toasted hoagie rolls, spread with mayo, line with sliced provolone, sliced cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, black pepper and “split” pepperoncini.
(cut pepperoncini lengthwise, remove stems and seeds, fan open and pile on)
