Praline Popcorn Crunch
1 ½ cups pecan halves
1 3 ½ ounce bag of microwave popcorn
½ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup butter
2 tbsp dark corn syrup
¼ tsp salt
½ tsp each: vanilla and baking soda
Place pecans in a 10 inch glass pie plate. Microwave on high 4 minutes stirring midway through cooking. Place in a 4 quart microwave-safe bowl. Prepare popcorn according to manufacturer’s instructions; discard unpopped kernels and add popped corn to pecan halves.
Combine sugar, butter, syrup and salt in a 4 cup glass measure. Microwave in high 1 ½ minutes: stir. Microwave on high 2 more minutes. Add vanilla and baking stirring well.
Immediately pour over the popcorn and nuts: toss to coat evenly. Microwave on high 2 minutes stirring midway through cooking. Turn out onto waxed paper or foil to cool. Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
