Mighty Mince

:slight_smile: I think of all ingredients, mince is like a comfort food to me…sort of like coming home as a kid and seeing granny at the door…lol

Mighty Mince


750 minced topside (with little to no fat if possible)
2 tablespoons shortening
½ cup finely chopped onion
½ cup diced celery
½ green pepper chopped finely (capsicum)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
½ cup tomato sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
¾ cup water
1/8 teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon paprika
3 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 teaspoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard


Heat shortening in frypan and brown minced steak, discard excess fat, place all ingredients in slow cooker, stir thoroughly and cover, cook on “Low” 6-8 hours or “High” 3-4 hours, serve with toasted hamburger buns, mashed potatoes, noodles or spaghetti. Goes really well rolled in a flat bread. Great to use the left overs to make meat loaf the next day.
