Mom's Biscuits and Chocolate Gravy

Mom’s Biscuits and Chocolate Gravy

Ingredients:

Biscuits:
2 Cups Flour
1 Tbsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/3 Cup Shortening
2/3 to 3/4 Cups Milk

Chocolate Gravy:
1 to 1 1/2 Cups Sugar (depending on your sweet tooth)
1/4 Cup Flour
2 1/2 Tbsp. Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
2 Cups Milk (maybe a little more)
Gob of Butter (about 4 Tbsp.)
1 tsp. Vanilla

Directions:

Biscuits: Mix together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut shortening into flour mixture well. Stir in milk and kneed/roll on floured board. Cut out biscuits and bake at 450* for about 15 minutes.

Gravy: In med sized pot - stir sugar, flour and cocoa together. Add milk and heat on medium/low heat stirring constantly with whisk until almost boiling. Add butter and vanilla. Keep stirring until comes to a light rolling boil (take care not to allow to burn).
Gravy will thicken as it starts to cool a bit.

The best way to eat this is to put a little butter in the biscuit and then smother with the gravy and enjoy! Use a spoon and a bowl
