My Fav Cabbage Recipe

Beef Tips with Rice and Cabbage

1 lb beef tips ( I usually use stew meat)
1 Tbsp dehydrated minced onion
3 Tbsp soy sauce
1 1/2 cups water
2 beef boullion cubes
1/2 head of cabbage, finely shredded
cooked rice

Brown mean and add onion, bouillions and liquids. Simmer meat at least 30 minutes, to make sure it is tender. Add cabbage, cover and cook until cabbage is cooked through. Serve over rice.

my fave cabbage recipe is something that my grandmother used to make. i loved it. one of the only ways that i’d eat cabbage as a kid. this was made using homemade lard and homemade egg noodles. if using store bought, make sure you use a thick egg noodle.

finely grate cabbage into a large bowl. sprinkle liberally with salt and stir in. let sit for a couple of hours.

when ready to cook, melt some lard in a cast iron frying pan. grab handfuls of cabbage and squeeze out the liquid. add cabbage to frying pan and saute until cabbage turns opaque adding generous amount of black pepper and more lard if needed.

while cabbage is cooking boil noodles. drain and stir in cooked cabbage. yummy. you’ll want the noodles to be covered with cabbage.
