I agree with Familycook, if it looks good then give it a try. There is no need to throw someone under the bus for something like this. This is supposed to be a friendly group, and I too thank you for sharing. Perhaps if there is any doubt you should label it Olive garden Style Chicken and Gnocchi Soup like Antilope did. I suspect that all Olive Gardens start with the same recipe. You know as well as I that all good cooks and chefs like to add their own flair to their dishes. I am thinking this particular chef might have changed this one to his own liking because he wanted his to be unique, and above all it was darn good. Also I suspect some recipes might be regionalized to cater to the locals. The resolution is simple, if there is something in there you don’t like just leave it out. I always leave out green bell peppers because if I eat those things I am still tasting that yuck hours later. Thanks.
Be mindful I am not trying to stir this thing up again, but when I looked at the ingredients I felt it worth a try.
I saved it in BigOven as Olive Garden Style Chicken and Gnocchi Soup.
The only thing I did differently is I used gnocchi from the super market, added a medium onion and used canned Lesueur peas.
The only peas I know that are better are fresh from my garden which I will have in May.
I can’t stand frozen peas, and I like it without half and half or heavy cream.
It turned rather well and we enjoyed it. Wifey did a thumbs up which means a keeper.
I made this recipe yesterday. My husband and children liked very much.
My wife and I went to Olive Garden the other day to take advantage of their lunch special. I had some of their Gnocchi Soup and frankly I was very disappointed with the real thing. The broth was fairly tasteless when compared to the homemade version and the gnocchi’s were gummy and hard (maybe reheated in the microwave?).
Any homemade version has to be much better.
I had their calzone and my wife had their flatbread. The bread of both was tasteless also compared to what we make at home. Overall I was disappointed with our meal out. We were there using a gift card our daughter had given us. Their soft bread sticks, with a hint of garlic salt were good, however.
Unfortunately we have one more gift card to use. I won’t be ordering their gnocchi soup again.
We’ve had some good meals there in the past, but this one was disappointing. I like their Veal Scaloppini, the minestrone soup, soft bread sticks, desserts. But I think in the present economy all companies are cutting back on quality. Many people now are so use to eating frozen dinners at home and not doing real cooking they accept what they are served and even order it again.
My wife and I have learned, when we go out to eat, order something we don’t make at home. If we do that we are usually not disappointed.
Am I missing something here, what does this have to do with soup? SPAM!
We went to Olive Garden last week and this time they were getting complaints about their soft bread sticks. Someone in the kitchen must have microwave the bread sticks to warm them. They were rubbery, tough and inedible. Several people around us complained. There is no excuse for re-heating bread in a microwave at a restaurant. The kitchen staff were either untrained or lazy. Another disappointment at Olive Garden.
