Pineapple Upside Down Cake Question

Hello all,

The top of my pineapple upside down cake is gooey instead of crispy. I have tried patting the pineapple slices dry but that didn’t help. Any suggestions?

Gooey is a good thing when you make a pineapple upside down cake. This is caused by the brown sugar melting and the juices coming out of the pineapple. I usually used chunk pineapple instead of slices to enhance this effect. JUST remember GOOEY IS GOOD.

I was glad someone agreed with me, since this is one of my favorite deserts and has been for :pa whole bunch of years. Just made one about two weeks ago and it didn’t last a day.

I like to add a can of crushed pineapple to the cake and use pineapple juice instead of water. I made it last night and it’s almost gone!
