Pinto Beef Casserole

1 pound ground round (or chuck)
1/2 cup diced onion
1/2 cup diced green pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
1-15 oz. can tomato sauce
2 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
3 cups hot, cooked white rice
1 can drained Pinto Beans
3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Brown beef in skillet until cooked through. Drain. Add onion, green pepper and garlic, stirring constantly. Add tomato sauce, chili powder and salt and simmer slowly while you cook your rice. Spray casserole dish with Pam, or grease lightly and layer beginning with meat sauce - meat, rice, beans, and cheese. Sprinkle any remaining cheese on top and bake for 15 to 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Makes a good meal with cornbread and salad.
