Really wacky chocolate cake

REALLY WACKY CHOCOLATE CAKE

1 1/2 cups (375 mL) flour
1 cup (250 mL) sugar
1/3 cup (75 mL) cocoa
1 1/2 tsp (7 mL) cinnamon
3/4 tsp (3 mL) baking soda
1/4 tsp (1 mL) salt
1/4 tsp (1 mL) cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp (1 mL) ginger
1 cup (250 mL) water
1/2 cup (125 mL) oil
1 tbsp (15 mL) vinegar
1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla
Icing sugar

In a medium bowl, combine first 8 ingredients (flour through ginger). Add water, oil, vinegar and vanilla; whisk just
until blended. Pour batter into a greased 8 inch (20 cm) square baking pan. Bake at 350ºF (180ºC) for 35 - 40 minutes
or until cake tests done. Cool in pan on a rack. Just before serving, sift icing sugar over cake. May be frozen.

Serves 6 - 8.

You’re right, it does sound wacky, but I really can see all the ingredients coming together.
