This is an old family favorite…turns out it is from the depression era.
2 cans pie cherries, chilled and well drained
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 pint heavy whipping cream whipped stiff (you can sweeten this or not)
1/4 tsp almond extract
2 tsp lemon juice
Mix together cherries, milk, almond extract and lemon juice. Gently fold in whipped cream, pour over a graham cracker crust and chill over night.
This will make one 9x13 inch pan or two pie pans.
You can use cool whip or dream whip in place of the whipped cream.
