Does anyone know how to make the onion peel sauce from Applebees? It has horseradish and is kind of pinkish??? Also want ideas on how to make a Philly-Steak Rollup from Applebees? Love both of these and just wanted to make them at home. DD
here is a dipping sauce recipe that I have - is this close??
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tsp ketchup
2 tbsp horseradish
1/4 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp dried oregano
Applebee’s Onion Peel Recipe
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unseasoned bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 1/2 cups milk
Heat the shortening to 350 degrees F in a deep fryer.
To prepare the onion: Slice both ends off the onion. Lay it with one cut side down. Slice into wedges and separate.
Batter: Combine the dry batter ingredients in a bowl until mixed. Stir in the milk until smooth. Let sit for 5 minutes or until thickened. Stir the batter, then dip each piece of onion into it. Carefully drop the battered onion into the oil. Fry approximately 10 pieces at a time, for 2 minutes or until browned. Drain on paper towel. Repeat using up remaining ingredients.
Serve with dipping sauce.
Chili’s Dipping Sauce recipe:
1/2 C. Sour Cream
2 Tbsp. Catsup
1/2 tsp. McCormick Seasoned Salt
1/8 tsp. Red Pepper
1 1/2 tsp. Fresh Horseradish
1/4 tsp. Paprika
Mix all together and serve in the middle of the onion blossom. Garnish with paprika and just a dash of red pepper.
I hope this helps!
