Runzas

Runzas

Brown 1 lb. of lean ground beef with 1 small onion
Add 1-2 Cups of shredded fresh cabbage
Add 1 tsp. or to taste of red pepper, salt, pepper
Reduce heat and continue to stir and mix until cabbage is tender.

Use Crescent rolls left in rectangles (don’t separate the final triangles)

Spoon meat and cabbage mixture onto rectangles of Cresent Rolls, pull up sides and pinch together to seal… (you couuld probably use 2 cans or 8 rolls)

Bake at 375 degrees for about 12-13 minutes or until lightly browned.

Serve.

This is the same recipe as for “Bierocks” The only difference is in the cooking.

Bierocks: Put wide end of crescent roll triangle in pam sprayed muffin tin, put in l/4 cup meat mixture, lop ends over top and bake 350 degrees about 10 to 15 minutes.

I like the muffin tin idea best.

Can use frozen bread dough instead of crescent rolls. Good old mid-west recipe, glad people are still enjoying them.

i have seen similar things called “patties” in aruba and jamaica, the best ones had the crecent shape made of a pastry dough with mashed plantains in the dough, that was years ago!, now they seem to be made of just a pastry dough and baked, the older recipe was deepfried. they made beef ones or cheese ones and always served them on the prop plane between aruba and bonaire, NA.
