Sizzler onion steak stack and cheese toast

Onion straws and caramelized onions smothering s perfect steak – serve with a baked potato, side salad and fresh from the oven cheese toast.

Serves 1

8 ounces favorite steak
1 1/2 teaspoons steakhouse seasoning
1 ounce onion straws
3 ounces caramelized onions
2 sprigs parsley

Prepare steak to your liking using your favorite steak house seasoning. Place 3 ounces of caramelized onions on plate. Once steak is ready, place steak on caramelized onions. Top steak with onion straws. Sprinkle chopped parsley on top of onion straws. Serve with baked potato or vegetable of your choice.

Caramelized Onions
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 medium yellow onions, halved and sliced paper thin (about 4 cups)
kosher salt
freshly ground black pepper

Melt the butter in a large frying pan over medium-low heat until foaming. Add the onions, and let them cook, stirring rarely, until they are deep golden brown and caramelized, about 45 minutes. Season well with salt and pepper, remove from the pan, and let cool. Makes 1 cup.

Onion Straws
1 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 cup vegetable oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced and separated into rings

In a medium bowl, combine flour, salt, and pepper; mix well. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Place onion rings in flour, coat well, then carefully place in hot oil.

Fry onions 6 to 8 minutes, or until golden. Drain on a paper towel lined plate, and serve immediately.


Makes 4 Pieces

4 tablespoons butter or margarine
4 slices thick sliced bread
4 teaspoons grated parmesan cheese

Melt the butter. Use a brush to spread the butter evenly over one side of each slice of bread.
Sprinkle the parmesan cheese over the butter side. Grill the the buttered side of the bread over medium low heat until golden brown.
