Skillet Stroganoff Sandwiches from 1961
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic
1 pound (2 cups) ground beef
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped cooked mushrooms
1 10-oz can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
10 sliced sandwich buns
Melt butter in a skillet;add onion, garlic and
ground beef and saute until browned. Combine
flour, salt, paprika and nutmeg; sprinkle
over meat mixture and stir until blended. Add
mushrooms and mushroom soup to meat mixture.
Simmer for 10 minutes over low heat. Pour sour
cream over top. Cover and simmer 5 minutes longer.
To serve: Place 1/3 cup hamburger stroganoff in
each bun.
Yield: 10 Skillet Stroganoff Sandwiches
