Snug Hollow Farm Bed and Breakfast Biscuits and Gravy

Snug Hollow Farm Bed and Breakfast Biscuits and Gravy
A southern delight with a bit of a twist to it.

Biscuits:

2 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
2 cups self-rising flour
Whole Wheat Flour (enough to dust on top of biscuits)

Gravy:
3 T melted butter
2 T flour
2 T heaping nutritional yeast
2 T Tamari Sauce
black pepper
salt
-sage and thyme to taste
-2 cups milk

Biscuits:
Preheat oven 450 degrees

Pour heavy whipping cream in a medium bowl and gradually add enough flour to make a soft dough. Stir together until wet and dry ingredients are blended well. May need to adjust cream or flour. Turn biscuit dough onto floured
board. Using whole wheat flour, gently pat dough to about 1-inch thickness.
Using a biscuit cutter dipped in whole wheat flour, cut out biscuits and place on baking sheets (not touching). If you don’t have a biscuit cutter,
you may use the end of an open juice glass.

Bake biscuits for 15-20 minutes, or until lightly browned.

Gravy:
In a medium skillet, make a roux by browning the flour and yeast in melted
butter.

Stirring constantly; add Tamari, milk and season with salt, pepper, sage and thyme to taste. Cook until thick.
