Southern Meat Sauce

Hi this is a really good recipe for meat sauce it is made from scratch. I got this recipe from my Mother years ago. She isn’t with us any longer but this is one recipe that I did not lose. Can use dry Italian herbs instead of fresh.

1 can of tomato sauce
1 can diced stewed tomatoes
1 small can tomato paste
1 small can tomato puree
1 large onion, chopped
5 large garlic cloves minced
1 large green bell pepper, chopped
2 pounds very lean ground beef, brown
1 Tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
1/2 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
1 Tablespoon fresh Rosemary, chopped
1 teaspoon fresh savory, chopped
1 Tablespoon fresh marjoram, chopped
1 Tablespoon powdered garlic
1/2 cup of Kraft Parmesan cheese if sauce is to thick

Brown ground beef, onions, bell pepper and garlic cloves in a little olive oil simmer for 3 hours. Add other ingredients except Parmesan cheese let simmer for 2 additional hours. I have used a Crock Pot and cook on high for one hour them put it on low all day after I brown and sauté the veggies. If to thin add the cheese. The slow cooking really brings out the flavor, it is better the next day after all the ingredients marinade over night in the refrigerator. Try it you will love it!!!
