Spring has sprung early!

With the weather being so warm it appears everything is about a month ahead of normal. My peach and pear trees have already bloomed. The dogwoods and azaleas are in full bloom, and what a beautiful sight. I am going to pick fresh strawberries this weekend, and normally they are not ready until the last week of April. I started to plant my green beans, lima beans, sweet corn, squash, melons, peppers and eggplant this past Monday, but it is still possible to get a frost until good Friday so I will not chance it and wait. I have cabbage, beets, lettuce, green peas, kale, mustard, turnips and spinach in my garden. I can’t wait for some fresh veggies.

Be glad to when I have something to show, in the meantime here is one from a year or so past. Notice I have hot wires to keep out deer, rabbits, squirrels, and racoons. The crows go after the corn just when it is 2 inches tall, and pluck the seedlings and eat the seed. I used a scarecrow to get rid of them. Then just as the corn is just ready to harvest the racoons will destroy the entire crop. They pull down an ear and take a couples of bites, then go to the next. The last time it happened I might have harvested 2 dozen that they had not ruined. So the hot wire not being a deterent to them I got 2 cage traps, and caught the suckers (a whole family, 6 of them). I took some of them across the bridge on the other side of interstate 77, and gave some of them to a friend who uses them to train his hunting dogs.

Your welcome, I have not heard from Ron so I placed the pics on my web site since we are allowed to bring in an image via URL. I build web sites and have a lot of knowledge if anyone needs information or how to do something?
