The Italian Heritage Festival is going on right now - but it’s just too darn hot and sunny for me to travel that distance and put up with the heat. So I made my own Italian Festival foods yesterday:
Skillet fried Italian sausage in a bit of olive oil and fresh garlic with red and green bell peppers and onions served on Italian-style hoagie rolls.
Bean and tomato salad - cannellini beans, chunked tomatoes, olive oil, red wine vinegar, basil, salt and pepper. Be sure to make way too much of this salad so that it can be heated later (yep! toss it in the fry pan!) and serve it sloppy joe style on rolls!
And plenty of iced tea -
and don’t forget the Lemon Italian Ice to cool off with!
