Tonkatsu-Japanese style prok cutlets

This is my first post here. Hello everyone. This is my favorite & easy dish to make.

Tonkatsu is a Japanese dish. It is breaded fried pork cutlets. Ton=pork, Katsu=cutlet.

I use the thinnest boneless pork cutlets I can find.

pork boneless chops/cutlets
1/4 cup flour
1 egg beaten
1/2 cup panko ( honey infused bread crumbs )
Vegetable oil for frying

prep:
lightly flour the cutlets
dip into the egg
lightly coat with panko

fry the tonkatsu in 320F oil until done
place on paper towel to drain off oil.

drizzle with Tonkatsu sauce. ( available at most larger shopping markets)

serve with shredded cabbage and rice.

Hi,
I live in a small town and do not have panko,is there something else that you would use if you couldn’t get panko.
Thanks and welcome here.

I suppose you can use regular bread crumbs even though they are not nearly as good. They are heavier. I live in a small town too. I have to drive 3 hours to get to a japanese grocery store. I stock up when I go. I have 5 bags of panko in my pantry now.
