Uncle John’s Moon Rock Biscuits

2 Cups All-purpose Flour
2½ Tsp Baking Powder
½ Tsp Salt
Pinch Of Freshly Grated Nutmeg
½ Cup Cold Unsalted Butter, Cut Into ½-inch Cubes
½ Cup Sugar
1 Cup Golden Raisins
1 Cup Walnuts, Coarsely Chopped
1 Cup Heavy Cream
½ Cup Half-&-half
½ Tsp Finely Grated Fresh Orange Zest

Put Oven Racks In Upper & Lower Thirds Of Oven & Preheat Oven To 425°f. Line 2 Large Baking Sheets With Parchment.

Pulse Flour, Baking Powder, Salt, Nutmeg, Butter, & ¼ Cup Sugar In A Food Processor Until Mixture Resembles Coarse Meal. Transfer To A Large Bowl & Stir In Raisins & Walnuts. Add Cream & Half-and-half & Stir Until Just Combined.

Drop 4 Mounds Of Batter (about ½ Cup Each) Onto Each Sheet, Leaving ½ - 2 Inches Between Mounds.

Stir Together Remaining ¼ Cup Sugar & Orange Zest & Sprinkle Over Tops Of Mounds.

Bake Biscuits, Switching Position Of Sheets Halfway Through Baking, Until Puffed & Golden, 20 - 25 Minutes Total. Transfer To A Rack & Cool To Warm, About 10 Minutes.

Makes 8 Biscuits.
