Awesome Sammiches !

I do not know if there is already a thread for this but AWESOME sandwiches deserve a thread. Now this is not a PBJ or balogna and processed cheese with yellow mustard type thing.
This is for AWESOME sammich creations!

I am giving up our best to start the thread.

We simply call this

“THE SANDWICH”

No two are ever alike and none are ever ever just OK

We discovered a wonderful bread when we lived in TN and we cannot get it up here … eh. It was called “Kings Hawaiin bread” and it is perfect for this recipe. Up her we use a good ROUND Italian or Round Sourdough loaf

1 round loaf
Kings Hawaiin preferred or your favourite ROUND loaf

Assorted lunch meats - shredded roughly by hand - no large slices
Assorted cheeses - shredded
Assorted condiments and spices - mustards, horseraddish, mayos, hot sauces, any spice of preference - only NO KETCHUP - that ruins it, trust experience here

CAREFULLY Slice loaf horizontally into 1/2 - 3/4 inch slices .
Keep layers in order.
You should get 4 - 5 layers.

Start on the bottom layer and use this pattern

Bread
Condiment
Some cheese
Some meat
Some cheese
Condiment
Bread

Make sure that some cheese touches all bread surfaces to act as “glue”

Each layer should be distinct in it’s comination of flavours and should not match another layer.
Once assembled, press together andplace on a large piece of foil.
Brush top of loaf liberally with extra virgin olive oil.
Sprinkle with garlic powder and garlic salt and a pinch of basil.
Wrap completely and bake for 10 - 15 min (depending on your oven) @ 350.
Cool and slice into wedges.

Call heart specialist and take cholesterol pills … LOL

This is sooooo good

Add spagetti sauce and mushrooms and mix well. Simmer 10 - 15 min.
Cut top ( not end ) of buns off and retain.
Scoop bread out of buns and replace with sausage mixture.
Top with cheese and replace tops.
Wrap in foil securely with double foil seal.
Baked 10 - 15 min @ 350.
Cool 10 min and serve

Our kids could never resist these even in their fussiest of phases.

I will do so but wait for my next round … got a number coming…LOL
I am too tired now, just got off my “week” of work
