Barbecue Sauce - from 1936

1/2 cup butter
2 Tbsp vinegar
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
few grains cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp Tabasco sauce
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp grated onion
1/4 clove garlic (bruised)
2 cups water

Put all the ingredients into a sauce pan,
bring to the boiling point and simmer 20 minutes.

Use the sauce for basting meat.

Thanks for posting this. I make something very similar & love it. Here, & our taste only, we skip the garlic & I toss in a small amount, I’m guessing, maybe 1/4 cup brown sugar. It’s a fantastic recipe.
