Boston Baked Beans

1 pound dried small white beans, sorted and washed
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup molasses
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tsp dry mustard
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 pound salt pork, cut into 2 to 3 pieces


In a pot, cook the beans in water until tender. While they are cooking, add the baking soda. Drain beans, reserving 1 cup of the liquid. In a slow-cooker, mix the remaining ingredients with the beans and reserved liquid. Cover, and cook on low
