Occasionally, I need to substitute prepared bread crumbs for fresh. If I use equivalent amounts (one cup prepared to sub for one cup fresh), ithe end product is too dry. Anyone have a rule of thumb substitution measurement?
You can make fresh bread crumbs easily by grating fresh bread on the coarsest side of a box grater.
Thanks! I fixed my typo. The problem with spell check is if your miss type, but it’s still a word the checker won’t catch it.
I have grated very fresh bread with no problem. It probably wouldn’t work with bread like Wonder Bread, which is mostly air, but a good quality bakery or home-made bread works fine.
