C and H Sugar - Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup C and H granulated sugar
3/4 cup C and H golden brown sugar (packed)
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Cream shortening and butter with sugars. Beat in vanilla and eggs,
one at a time. Combine flour and soda. Mix into dough until smooth.
Stir in oats, raisins and nuts. Batter will be stiff. Drop by 1/4
cupfuls of dough onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree
oven 15 to 20 minutes or until golden. If desired, freeze 1/4 cup balls of
dough before baking. When needed, thaw balls and bake as directed.
Makes 1 1/2 dozen cookies.
