  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 teaspoons grated ginger

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, ginger, and red pepper flakes to make the marinade.

  2. Add the salmon cubes to the marinade and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 1 hour.

  3. To assemble the poke bowls, divide the cooked sushi rice among four bowls. Top each bowl with the marinated salmon, diced avocado, sliced cucumber, and sliced green onions.

  4. Sprinkle each bowl with 1/2 tablespoon of furikake.

  5. Serve the poke bowls immediately.

The furikake adds a delicious umami flavor to this poke bowl, while the salmon and veggies provide a nutritious and satisfying meal. You can make your own Furikake Seasoning so that you can enjoy it anytime.

Home-made Furikake Seasoning

To make your own Furikake Seasoning at home, you can start with a base of dried seaweed, such as nori or wakame, and add other ingredients to taste. You can buy Seaweeds at most asian stores, specifically Japanese Supermarkets. Here’s a basic recipe to get you started:

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup dried seaweed (nori or wakame)
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon powdered dashi (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat until lightly browned and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  2. Crumble the dried seaweed into small pieces.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the seaweed, sesame seeds, sugar, salt, and dashi (if using).
  4. Stir well to combine.
  5. Store the furikake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 month.

You can customize the recipe by adding other ingredients like dried bonito flakes, shiso, or green tea powder. Sprinkle furikake on top of rice, noodles, or vegetables for a flavorful and nutritious seasoning.

Enjoy!

Until Next Time… Be Well!
