Cheerios and Ice Cream Crunch
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup Cheerios® cereal
1/4 cup chopped nuts or peanuts
1 quart ice cream, slightly softened
Fresh berries or cherries, if desired
1.In 1-quart saucepan, heat brown sugar and butter, stirring constantly, until thick and smooth. Reduce heat to low; stir in cereal and nuts. Cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
2.Spread in thin layer on ungreased cookie sheet; cool.
3.Crumble into bite-size pieces. Spread half the pieces in 8-inch square pan; spread with ice cream. Top with remaining pieces. Place in freezer about 1 hour or until frozen. Garnish with fresh berries.
