I can’t believe I’ve gone for so many years without this.
It’s a small program that lets you set a timer on your computer, that beeps when its done. I can’t tell how many things I’ve over cooked over the years, coz I got engrossed in the computer and thus missed when my kitchen timer went off.
And of course, the calls I missed making, putting softner in the washer, or just as a reminder of something I need to do.
Best part is, there’s quite a variety of them, and all are free. And they are quick downloads coz they’re less than 1M of space. You can get one at C/net.com, which means they are spyware-free, and even been evaluated.

I use the Alarm Klock app on my Android phone… it lets you set up a boatload of alarms that can repeat or be a one time thing. Really easy to use and it’s free, too.
