Copycat Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup
I have made this whenever I ran out of syrup and couldn’t get to the store. When my family wants brownies or they have a chocolate attack, we substitute the following.
Copycat Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup
1/2 cup cocoa (any brand)
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 dash salt
Prep & cooking time 10 minutes
Combine cocoa, sugar, and salt in a medium heavy saucepan. Add water and mix until smooth. Bring this mixture to a boil. Allow it to boil for one minute after it comes to a rolling boil. Be careful this does not boil over (makes a real mess). Remove from heat, and when cooled add vanilla. Will appear really runny but will thicken up as it cools.
