Custer's Old Fashioned Turkey Rub

Custer’s Old Fashioned Turkey Rub

Source Shadows

This rub combines everthing you need for a delicious turkey. Remember when rubbing poultry you want to get it under the skin. Skin blocks flavor, and while you might get some tasty skin it won’t help the meat any.
INGREDIENTS:

1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons seasoned salt
1 teaspoons poultry seasoning
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon basil
PREPARATION:

Combine all ingredients and store in an air tight container. Makes enough rub for a 20 pound turkey.

hey all,

i tried this on my turkey on the weekend and was very pleased with the results. give it a try. you won’t be disappointed.

i tasted the rub after it was all combined and thought that it was too tangy with the cayenne. after the turkey was cooked, you couldn’t taste it.

was very, very good.

Our one son was home this weekend with his new girl friend, so we cooked a turkey. I made this rub with one addition and it turned out just grand! The girl friend took the recipe home with her…

I added 1 tsp of ground ginger.

Will be using this one from now on!

Thanks a million for this rub! I now call it a “poultry rub”, since I use it on chicken, also. Happy Holidays!

Happy Thanksgiving

sounds delicious cant wait to try it
