Cut Back on Checks? ( Diabetes )

Are there situations when you don’t have to obsessively monitor your blood glucose? There are some circumstances when it’s possible. If you have type 1 and you’re using an insulin pump, for example. However, be sure to talk with your health care provider before changing your glucose monitoring schedule.
The safest days to reduce checks are very predictable ones, when your blood glucose before breakfast is close to normal. Take your normal boluses for any food you eat and pay close attention to any signs your blood glucose might be too high or too low. Check your level if you are not sure. If your food or activity varies from usual, you should check more frequently. Finally, it’s always wise to check your glucose before bed, just to confirm that the day has gone as expected.
