Easy Custard Pie

Easy Custard Pie

1 unbaked pastry shell
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 cups hot water
3 medium eggs, beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
Nutmeg

Mix sweetened condensed milk (don’t confuse this with
the regular evaporated milk) and hot water together. Pour
slowly over slightly beaten eggs. Add salt and vanilla. Pour
into pastry-lined pie plate. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake in
350 deg. F., oven for 35 to 45 minutes, or until knife inserted
near center comes out clean. (You’ll need a large, deep pie
plate tor this. You could use a pastry-lined 9 x 9-inch cake
pan. Would be a good plan to pre-bake the pie shell for
5 minutes as this pre-baking helps to prevent a soggy crust.
