Freezing ground ginger

Are there any secrets to freezing grated fresh ginger?

Yes - don’t do it.

I don’t freeze ground ginger because moisture sets in and ruins it. You would be better off using fresh ginger and grinding it when you need it. It will freeze well. check out the articles in the Cooking tips forum - use the search in that forum and type in ginger.

I’ve never had any issues with freezing ginger, but I do it in vacuum-seal bags to protect from moisture and freezer burn. Here is a link to more information.

I still don’t believe in freezing and herbs or spices unless they are fresh. Moisture still sets in.
